3D SCANNING SERVICES
3D SCANNING SERVICES
DIS/CREADIS provides 3D scanning services for a wide variety of industries. The results of a 3D scanning project can be reverse-engineered into CAD models, measurements, storyboards, and maintenance documentation.
Spherical photos can also be used for training purposes or to guide urgent repair needs.

3D SCANNING SERVICES THAT PROVIDE ACTIONABLE INSIGHTS

Our team performs 3D scanning on visible structures using specialized tripod-mounted or suspended laser scanning equipment. The equipment captures thousands of reference points, referred to collectively as a point cloud, to represent 3D objects. Scanning can be performed at various levels of detail, depending on the project requirements.
In post-processing, any “noise” not essential to the image (images of people, for example) is removed, and the system stitches together all the data to create a uniform representation of the scanned site.
Projects involving 3D scanning services typically take less than a week to complete. Work is performed as the weather permits, since factors like swaying vertical structures can adversely affect results.
HOW CUSTOMERS LEVERAGE OUR 3D SCANNING SERVICES
Customers leverage our 3D scanning expertise for:
- Building information modeling (BIM)
- Piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID)
- General arrangement drawings (GA)
- Isometrics
- Documentation
Our digital solutions team can even use the data to generate virtual simulations like those in video games.
3D Scanning in Onshore and Offshore Wind
One of our 3D scanning specialties is capturing images of onshore and offshore wind infrastructure and equipment.
Our technicians are certified by the Global Wind Organization (GWO) and have extensive knowledge of turbines from leading OEMs. They also have all the gear and PPE necessary to climb turbines and complete work safely and efficiently.
A 3D CONSULTING SERVICE SUCCESS STORY
DIS-CREADIS provides comprehensive 3D scanning services that produce information essential to the effective operation of all types of systems.
In one example, an OEM took over the expired service contract of another OEM’s wind turbine. Due to limited access to as-built data, the customer needed to reverse-engineer the turbine to develop major component exchange procedures and maintenance documentation.
We conducted a two-day site scan of the externals, tower and machine head internals, and blades. Then, we delivered 3D CAD models with the necessary level of detail, measurements of critical components (bolt patterns, cable runs, ladders, key interfaces), all point cloud data, and spherical photos.
In addition to the immediate benefits of the deliverables, the client can use the information later when needed for designing custom tools such as blade stands.
